Harry Widman: “The Dream” comes true!!!!

There was a painting of Harry’s from the early 1970’s called “The Dream” that went missing.  Sold to the City of Salem in 1973, for years it hung in the City Council Chambers.  Roger wanted to borrow this painting for the upcoming Widman show (opening at the Hallie Ford Museum at the end of January, 2009), but nobody could find it.  It was supposed to be hanging in the Finace Dept. but nobody could remember seeing it there.  Roger called one office, then another–no luck.  Then he remembered old friend Alicia Blalock–long-time city worker–and her focus and energy.  He called Alicia and within a week she had a message from Tye Godfrey at the City Shops saying they had a large painting wrapped in plastic with a lot of orange in it.  Today we went to see if it was “The Dream” and–miracle of miracles–it is!!!

Now there is another missing painting–one by Clifford Gleason–Tye is on it!!!  Stay tuned.
